Good afternoon,

This message is from Evergreen Park School.

School will be closed on Monday, September 19th to observe the National Day of Mourning for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

Meet the Teacher Night is scheduled for Wednesday, September 21st beginning at 6:00 p.m. in the gymnasium. We will start with a brief introduction and a presentation by our PSSC Parent Committee chair. Parents will then have the opportunity (with two 30-minute sessions) to hear their child’s teacher describe the year ahead, classroom routines, and expectations. We look forward to seeing you.

As a school we take our students’ and staff’s safety seriously. As such, we want to inform you we will be practicing our lockdown procedures the morning of Tuesday, September 20th. The RCMP will be at the school to observe our drill and will provide us with feedback so that we can improve our practice. A lockdown occurs when there is an extreme situation such as a school intruder, or an immediate threat to the safety of staff and students that would make it dangerous for students and staff to leave or circulate throughout the building.

A friendly reminder to all that we are a nut free school. Please be vigilant when packing your child’s lunch.

Thank you to all parents and guardians for not parking in the Kiss and Ride at dismissal. Only day care vans/busses are allowed during the K-2 dismissal at 1:35 p.m. and at the 3-5 dismissal at 2:35 p.m. Please remember to only park in the designated areas and to reduce your speed in the parking lot. Let us continue to work together to keep all members of our EPS family safe.

Starting on Tuesday, September 20th, we respectfully ask all parents to drop off their child at their respective playgrounds and then either leave school grounds or wait behind the fence. Adults wearing orange vests are on supervision duty starting at 7:40 a.m. They will watch over your children as done during snack and noon recess. It is getting difficult distinguishing parents/guardians from adults that should not be on the school’s premises. Thank you for understanding and for your cooperation. Together we will keep the children safe.

A friendly reminder that parents/guardians entering the school must first present themselves at the main office, sign in, and wear a visitor’s tag prior to walking around the school.

Have a great afternoon,
Mrs. Antigone Panagiotakis
