This message is from Evergreen Park School.
Good afternoon,
We would like to thank the parents, staff, and students who took the time to share their concerns regarding our Walk-A-Thon incentive plan in a respectful and constructive manner. We value meaningful feedback and appreciate those who chose to engage in thoughtful conversations with our school.
While we recognize that families may not always agree with decisions made at the school level, we also believe that concerns can and should be expressed respectfully. Public criticism and negative commentary on social media do little to support the positive, collaborative school community we work hard to maintain. We encourage families to communicate directly with the school when questions or concerns arise, allowing for productive conversations and a better understanding of the decisions being made.
We also want to clarify that the original decision was never intended to be punitive. It was made in an effort to remain consistent with the expectations and guidelines established at the beginning of the fundraising campaign and clearly communicated on the pink pledge form. These expectations were shared in advance, and our intention was to honour the information provided to all families.
Having considered the respectful, constructive feedback received, we have decided that all students will be welcome to wear costumes on Friday, October 30, to celebrate Halloween.
The Walk-A-Thon will begin at 10:20 a.m. Students who prefer not to wear a costume are welcome to participate by wearing orange, black, or green to show their school spirit.
To help ensure a safe and appropriate school environment, costumes depicting violence, masks, and toy weapons are not permitted.
We remain committed to making decisions in the best interests of our students while maintaining a school environment grounded in mutual respect, kindness, and cooperation. We ask that families demonstrate these same values in their interactions with our staff and school community, particularly when disagreements arise.
Thank you for continuing to support our school through respectful communication and constructive engagement.
On a different note, there was an error with the email given to us by Harvey’s studios yesterday. Please use the link below for retake requests https://www.harveystudios.ca/en/retakes/ .
Have a good day,
Mrs. Antigone Panagiotakis
